On my own....

For anyone who knows me they know that I am a PEOPLE person. I would much rather go shopping with my sister or mom than on my own. I would rather go to a movie with my daughter or gal-pal than on my own. I would rather go to the park with the kids than on my own. This being said it was a huge shocker to my hubby and some other family when I actually did something on my own last week.

I went and got my nose pierced! It is something I have wanted to do for YEARS now. It may not seem like a big deal to most but for me it was a huge occasion. I did the research on several different studios, called around for pricing, found the driving directions to the place I finally decided to go to, went into the studio, had it done and left! Not only did I go alone I also did not call or text the 3 main people on my life i always break down and tell of any adventures I have....My mom, my sister & My hubby! I know I know this is dumb, but to me it is important.

I felt a sense of accomplishment, independence and a rush in doing this.

On a totally different note with the same undertone......Later the same week I started to have a pain in my right breast. It has been about 4 days now and it is still there. Being that:

1. It is Breast Cancer Awareness month

2. I run the Susan G Komen yearly with a run team

3. I have a dear friend that has been diagnosed with Stage 3/4 Breast cancer

4. With the recent announcement of E News reporter being diagnose with Breast Cancer

I decided to do something else on my own. I called The Rose, a locally well known breast cancer organization, and made an appointment for my first ever mammogram. I go in this Tuesday for that.  I am 36 years old, have 3 children and a wonderful husband, I really never wanted to go and have a mammogram but I couldnt with a clear heart turn a blind eye to this knowing that I have so many people depending on me to be here for thier future!  How much do I really love my family if I put off doing something uncomfortable bcs I just "Dont wanna know?"

Am I scared? Like you would not believe....Am I nervous? Yes Am I really gonna follow thru with this on my own HECK yes I will. I know that there is strength in numbers but I also know there is a strength within myself that I can muster up in order to honor myself by doing something that will be beneficial to me and my health as well as give me a piece of mind.

Please I am asking each one of you to have a breast exam (on your own or by a doctor) and /or have a mammogram.  Let this be the month that we stand up and take care of ourselves.   Please keep me in your prayers.  I pray it is nothing and that I am healthy for years and years and years to come.

Bra ~ Strap Stress UGH!

Ok so I finally broke down & bought this "As Seen on TV" item. I have always had problems with my bra straps falling off my shoulders. You may ask "Well why not just tighten the strap?" If so then you are clearly a man reading this. As you ladies know when I tighten the strap we all know what invidubily happens..One or both of "the Girls" come out of the bottom of the bra cup! UGHHH Hate that.

So got this at my local Wal-Mart for a mere $9.99 it came with a 6 pack of the actual bra "clip" 2 in clear, black and nude.

The clip is adjustable and easy to put on after you practice a time or 2. You can wear it with different style backs bcs you are able to move the clip up or down.

They also provided a bonus of "Invisible Style Tape" (24pcs). This you can use on bra straps or reveling neck lines or to hem a skirt. They look like tape strips the size of a post it note flag (a tad longer). These I have yet to use

Ok so I love the bra clip HOWEVER 2 things to keep in mind.

1.) By drawing the 2 straps together you will have to adjust your straps in my case loosening them allot otherwise the girls come out the bottom.
2.) By doing this it does tend to feel a bit "loose" in the exact area where the bra hooks closed

NIETHER are a deal breaker for me. Simply adjusts the bra and you are good to go. I have not messed with my straps ONCE in 2 days!

What:
Strap Perfect "As Seen on TV"

Objective / Claim & My thoughts:

1.) Conceal Bra Strap ~ Does it perfectly!
2. Instant Lift & Support ~ Yes you diffidently feel the support from this and I find comfort in that. As far as lift I don’t think it is enough that a man would notice lol, but as a woman you may see a slight enhancement not much
3.) Improve posture. ~ For sure. Bcs of the support you are more aware of it (the support) and I have noticed me standing a little taller and my back not as "tired" as it normally is.

Cost & Includes:
$9.99 + tax
6 bra clips (2 in nude, clear & Black)
Bonus: 24 pc Tape Strips

Purchase:
Online
Walgreens
Wal-Mart

Would I buy again, refer or gift?:
HECK YES

Scale of 1-5 (according to claims and results) 5 being highest:

I would say a 5 Bcs of the fact that it is inexpensive; it works and comes with so many pcs.

What it looks like (Can’t believe I am doing this but you should see what I am talking about:

7/22/10 - #2 Work Smarter Not Harder:

I know we have all heard this time and time again and yet I find with people (Myself included) that when you step back from a situation we are at times trying to reinvent the wheel or we will have routines that are simply over doing what has already been done or we as parents will go and clean up the bathroom after we told our kids to (and the did it just not to “OUR” standards). Think about how much time this wastes added on top of our already full schedules of soccer, yoga, church, errands, paying bills, and traveling. No wonder we all forget to breathe and appreciate each other at times!

Here are some ideas you could try for the next 10 days see if they make your life a bit easier.

1. Lay out your clothes (as well as the kids) the night before ~ Even Us stay home moms. We can avoid running around in PJ’s all day and then at the end of the day wonder “Man why do I feel so bad for not getting anything done, LOOK I am still in my PJ’s from last night!”

2. Each morning make you a list of things you would like to accomplish that day. (ex: Calls to make/errands to run/emails that need to be answered list 3-5 items per section)

MEALS:

3. Plan 1 night a week for a family night dinner every week. For each of us this day will be different. I have a friend, Shannon & Mac who have family Nights on Mondays. They order PaPa Johns Pizza and have a ball. Have a simple pizza from Wal-mart or hotdog’s or Loaded Nachos ,like my pal Monica makes for her family.

4. Plan 1 night a week for left-over’s. For us this is Wednesday night bcs we have church. I make plenty of food anyway throughout the week that this is an easy fall back plan.

5. Plan 1 night a week for a Crockpot meal. Throw all (most) ingredients in the AM and your are done. You could do this the day before a left-over’s night!

6. Plan 1 night a week for a casserole meal.

That right there is 4 nights taken care of.

If you are interested in the meals you can e-mail me Crockpot recipes or casserole recipes at.... melissa@theorganizertexas.com

If enough of ya wanna try this I can post each Sunday 1 crock pot recipe & casserole recipe for us all to try. This will give you plenty of time to go shopping for the items.
